Every year, there is always a new batch of video games yet to be released that most gamers cannot wait to get their hands on to play. 2015 is no exception to this, and with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One being out in the public for a little over a year now this could be the year where we can see what these two systems can truly accomplish both graphically and mechanically.

  1. No Man’s Sky

No Man’s Sky is a highly anticipated title from the creators of Joe Danger, Hello Games. The game has you take the role of a planetary explorer with a spacecraft that allows you to the travel to other planets. The game has a possible 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 worlds to explore and practically has every new player start on an entirely different planet when they first begin the game, meaning each game session is unique. The game is so vast that even if a player were to find a new planet every second it would still take almost 600 billion years to find every single one. The game also has a dynamic and procedurally-generated visual style for every planet you encounter.

  1. Final Fantasy XV

Final Fantasy XV is a game that fans of the series have been waiting for almost ten years now. The game has gone through several changes in development and even took so long that it changed its name from Final Fantasy Versus XIII to XV. The game mixes the art style and cinematics the Final Fantasy series is known for and mixes it with the combat system the Kingdom Hearts series is known for. The game is set in a world similar to modern Earth, and has crystals that are said to hold mystical powers. These crystals are the cause of many wars, and due to these wars many of these crystals have said to be lost or destroyed with the exception of one. With all of the information the developers have released, this could be the year fans can finally play a game that they have been patiently waiting for.

  1. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Metal Gear

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is the first open-world entry in the Metal Gear series. The game has striking visuals and has plenty of excellent additions to the tactical espionage franchise. Some of these include a day-night cycle that will allow the player to analyze the movement of enemies in the area and plan an approach. There will also be weather mechanics, such as rain and desert storms, that affect the gameplay and terrain. The game looks incredible and will give the player more options on how to approach their objectives.

The Legend of Zelda franchise is known for its vast adventures and dungeons, but with the next entry in the series, the game will expand to have an entirely open-world that will allow the player hours of exploration. The developers have also talked about giving the player more freedom – unlike some of the older titles in the series – and will include a branching narrative, various side quests, and familiar bosses from other games in the series.

  1. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The Witcher 3 is one of those games that both fans and newcomers to the Witcher franchise were waiting to play and then was delayed. This delay has only made people crave playing this game even more, and 2015 is the year we can finally play it. The Witcher 3 is an open world game that brings the action-adventure/role-playing genre back to its roots. The game is strictly a single-player game with no online functionality. The Witcher 3 is trying to immerse the player in a story-driven world that has glorious visuals and over 100 hours of gameplay. With this open world, remarkable visuals, and incredible gameplay, The Witcher 3 looks like the first true current-gen title.
