Eminem and Rihanna visited MetLife stadium August 16th as part of the northeastern leg of their “Monster Tour.”  The concert opened up with a mini-film that was a spin off the “Monster” music video, which depicted Rihanna visiting a lunatic (Eminem) in an Attica correctional facility. The two opened up with “Numb” from Rihanna’s album Unapologetic, and performed a few collaborations including “Run This Town” and “No Love.” After the collaborative performance, Rihanna went solo to perform some of her greatest hits including “Cake”, “What’s My Name,” “Pour It Up,” “Umbrella,” ”All Of The Lights,” as well as, one of her most recent hit singles, “Stay.” After the performance of “Stay,” Eminem came back onto the stage to perform the duo’s collaborative hit “Love The Way You Lie” from Eminem’s album Relapse. He continued to rap some of his greatest hits, such as “3 a.m.,” “Till’ I Collapse,” “My Name Is,” “The Real Slim Shady,” “Not Afraid,” and “Lose Yourself.”

The crowd’s reaction for Rihanna wasn’t as intense as it was for Eminem. The whole crowd was singing along with the artists when both of them performed together. There was a tremendous fireworks show with fireworks going off after the end of a song or even in the middle of one! Contributing, along with the amazing fireworks display, to the overall intensity of the concert, was the whole stadium being sold out! After he performed one of his solo songs, Eminem noticed a fan holding a poster that said “Fack!” and he told the fans “That might actually be the greatest song I ever made,” he says before promising to perform “that s***” live one day. He then continued with his hype man, Mr. Porter, to engage in a mini conversation on stage about Slim Shady’s proclaimed “Fu**** up days.”

The show in its entirety was amazing! It’s unbelievable how after 15 years of Eminem’s first LP coming out (Slim Shady LP), Eminem is still going at it and continuing to release more music. He is releasing another album (SHADYXV) that comes out Friday, November 28th to celebrate 15 years of Slim Shady, his first alter ego. The show ended with fans screaming for an encore, and Eminem and Rihanna came back out to perform the song “Monster” that was from Eminem’s most recent album MMLP2. If anyone wants to go to a concert in the tri-state area, definitely go to an Eminem concert. It was the best concert I’ve ever been to. Eminem is definitely the best artist that I’ve seen perform live so far.
