On January 20, 2023, Stamford High School administration hosted yet another school safety meeting which discussed all necessary preparations in case we find ourselves in an emergency situation. The meeting was rather short as it only covered necessary lockdown procedures. During the meeting, it was also announced that on Monday, January 23rd, (which is a B day) the school would have its very first lockdown drill during a lunch period. The exact time of the lockdown drill is unknown; however, it will be taking place between the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m..

The lockdown procedures include locking all doors, covering windows with blinds, turning off lights, and moving students to a part of the room that is not visible from the outside. During the meeting, it was made clear that all cell phones should be silenced and students must listen to any instructions given by security, administration, teachers, and police officers. If during a lockdown you find yourself in the hallway, you are to find the safest available location (the closest classroom is suggested). If you find yourself in the bathroom, you are to find the safest accessible location if you are unable to you are to stay in the restroom. If you find yourself in the courtyard at the time of the drill or in a real lockdown situation, you are to follow all instructions given to ensure safety. If you find yourself outside of the building during the drill or a real lockdown, you are to follow instructions from the Stamford Police Department.

It should also be noted that if the fire alarm happens to go off during a lockdown or lockdown drill, you are to not follow fire procedures unless otherwise instructed. It is critical that we are “all on the same page” in emergency situations said administrator Thomas Agosto, Stamford High’s designated safety drill administrator.
