For today’s spirit day theme, we had “‘Murica Day.” Unlike the previous years where we have had “Decade Day,” Stamford High decided to change it up by having “Mix n’ Match Day” last year and “‘Murica Day” this year. Freshman, sophomores, juniors, and seniors alike all got decked out in their red, white and blue clothing from American flags to full bodysuits. In previous years when we have had decade day, freshman were always the 50’s, sophomores the 60’s, juniors the 70’s, and seniors the 80’s. Many seniors seemed to be disappointed that they could not dress up in bright neon colors with legwarmers and teased hair for the 80’s this year. Daniella Malinowski says “I was pretty disappointed. I was so excited to wear my mom’s retro clothing.” Others were excited for today’s spirit day when “Dress like a Teacher Day” was originally proposed. Due to a bit of controversy from both faculty and students, this possibility did not fall through. For all of the underclassmen who were pumped for this new spirit day-better luck next year! Despite all of the options for today’s spirit day, the majority of Stamford High students seemed to enjoy the day and dressed in their American red, white and blue apparel. So there you have it. Let’s go ‘Murica.
