Stamford High Enters 5th Annual Fan Showdown By The Ruden Report

Manuela Tabares, Staff Writer

In the last four basketball seasons local sports journalist Dave Ruden of The Ruden Report has managed to coordinate and run the Rhone Fan Showdown. Available to all 17 schools in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference (FCIAC) this event is sponsored by Rhone Apparel.

The first part of the competition will be all voting on The Ruden Report Website running from Sunday, January 24 to the following Wednesday at noon. The second part to this competition is a video lasting no longer than three minutes. This video will be showing the fans in action at any sporting event whether it’s a home game or an away game. The video will be judged on creativity, loyalty and behavior. The video will have to be submitted on February 1 at noon. As the videos are received they will be posted for everyone to see and judged by sponsors. The winning school will get $500 for their athletic department.

The first year this competition took place Westhill High School’s Purple Pack was the winner, Ridgefield High School’s Tiger Lair won both years after that, and Trumbull High School’s Black Hole won last year. Unfortunately, Stamford High School has yet to win this competition; last year we were tied for runner-up with Staples High School. Below is the video we submitted two seasons ago.

Tonight our Stamford boys basketball team will be playing Brien McMahon at 7 p.m. in the Kuzco Gym. We as a fan base will be filming for this competition in hopes of finally getting in a win. Come out to help support and bring your Black Knight Pride.
