Here is a preview of Stamford High School varsity sports for the week of 5/11 to 5/17:
BASEBALL:
The Stamford High School varsity baseball team take their 8-6 record to City Hall Field on Monday in Norwalk for a matchup with the FCIAC’s Central Division leaders, the Norwalk Bears (12-3). Later in the week, the Black Knights will square off against two teams at home that have struggled of late. Harding (2-13) have lost their last 9 ballgames by extremely large margins. Fairfield Ludlowe has lost six of their last eight.

SOFTBALL:
The Stamford High School varsity softball team has three games coming on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. The Lady Knights are coming off an extra-inning defeat to Norwich on Saturday, only their third loss of the 2015 season. They had won six consecutive games coming into Saturday, including two shutouts. Stamford has three matinee affairs against Norwalk (9-5), Harding (2-13) and Fairfield Ludlowe (9-5).

BOYS LACROSSE:
The Black Knights varsity boys lacrosse team (2-9) will look to rebound, coming off a tough 11-10 loss to city-rival Westhill High School. Stamford will visit Danbury (2-9), who have lost three of their last four games, at Danbury High School Stadium on Monday. On Thursday, the Black Knights will welcome Trumbull (6-5) for a night matchup at Boyle Stadium.

GIRLS LACROSSE:
The Stamford High School varsity girls lacrosse team (3-6-1) has only one game during the week of May 11th-17th. The Lady Knights will matchup against Staples High School (8-4) at Ginny Parker Field on Tuesday at 4PM. The Wreckers of Staples have won three of their last four games.

GOLF:
The Stamford High School varsity boys golf team looks to continue to improve as they have three matches, coming on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The Black Knights will head to Longshore Golf Course in Westport on Monday to face FCIAC power-house Staples. On Tuesday, Stamford hosts a tri-match with Greenwich and city-champion Westhill. Then on Wednesday, the Black Knights will welcome St. Joe’s to E. Gaynor Brennan Golf Course.

BOYS TENNIS:
The Black Knights’ varsity boys tennis team visits St. Joe’s High School and Fairfield Warde High School on Monday and Tuesday, before hosting Norwalk High School on Thursday. St. Joe’s and Norwalk have both had down seasons, with each playing to 2-10 records, while the Mustangs of Fairfield Warde have had a more successful year on the tennis courts with a 7-5 record.

GIRLS TENNIS:
The Stamford High School varsity girls tennis team will also play St. Joe’s, Fairfield Warde and Norwalk. St. Joe’s (3-9) and Fairfield Warde (7-5) will visit the Lady Knights Monday and Tuesday, while Stamford travels to Norwalk to face the winless Norwalk High School.

TRACK AND FIELD
Leading off the week for the Stamford High School track and field teams, the Lady Knights face Westhill and Bassick on Monday. Then, the Stamford High School boys track and field squad (2-9) matches up against Westhill (5-6) and (1-10) Bassick on Tuesday at Westhill.
