Sugarbush Trail Map

There are 87 total ski resorts in the Northeast. But if you go anywhere else season, I would suggest Sugarbush Mountain Resort.

Sugarbush, located off of route 100 in Warren, VT, has a total of six peaks between two mountains, the tallest, Lincoln Peak, is over 4,000 feet tall. Sugarbush hosts 131 total trails and 16 total lift between its two mountains, along with an abundance of slope side condos and houses.

For a one-night stay or a whole week these luxury condos put anything else to shame. In the village, there is a surplus of restaurants and pubs to service any palette. There are also many ski shops, outlets, and spas to keep everyone happy.

While the condos, houses and spas are very nice; this mountain is best known for its expert terrain. Sugarbush boasts a total of 38 black and double black diamonds trails, not including their glades throughout the mountain. Many of these are concentrated on the Castle Rock Peak. Castle rock has its own double chair and is entirely expert terrain. One of its most well known trails is Middle Earth, a half-mile or so long trail of only moguls, only the best of the best can finish this run without bailing out. They’re all also many other famously difficult trails all over the mountain too, some popular trails for the experts, such as Paradise and Ripcord, can be found off of the Heaven’s Gate triple chair. Others such as the infamous Stein’s Run and The Mall are located on Gadd’s Peak. Still more expert trails, like Exterminator and F.I.S., are on the upper half of Mt. Ellen (Sugarbush’s second Mountain).

But, for who aren’t so into the extreme moguls and glades of Castle Rock, Heavens Gate, and Mt. Ellen, you can always ski on the Lincoln, North Lynx, or Inverness peaks, all of which showcase a large variety of intermediate trails. For the beginner or novice skier, the village and sunshine double chairs are the place to be with lots of great terrain for any learner.

Anyone looking for the terrain park should head on over to Mt. Ellen’s Sunshine Double chair lift. This lift services to two terrain parks on Sugarbush, both of which are some of the best of the east.

Overall, Sugarbush is a great place to for any skier. It has so many trails you can never get bored, and it has all the restaurants and pubs for fun after the slopes. I would highly recommend spending a day at Sugarbush this winter.
