Former New England Patriot star tight end has been connected to a double homicide that took place in Boston’s South End in 2012, even as he awaits trial for a separate, previous murder charge.

Boston police believe that Hernandez could have been the gunman in the latest attack, an attack that left Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado both dead.

This investigation all started when investigators saw Hernandez on surveillance footage of him inside a Boston nightclub, Cure, that the victims Abreu and Furtado were in the night of the shooting.

Witnesses, who have chosen to stay unnamed, said they saw a suspicious SUV pull up next to the car Abreu was driving, with Furtado in the backseat.

Right before the stream of bullets hit Abreu’s car, witnesses allegedly heard a man shout “What up, Negros?”

When the gunfire had ended, Hernandez and the other men in the SUV had left the scene.

It was later found out that the SUV had indeed been a rental, and rented by (who else?) Aaron Hernandez.

Although police have said they believe that Hernandez wasn’t driving the vehicle, they have reason to believe he was, in fact, the shooter.

The gun believed to be used in the 2012 murders showed up in June, in the trunk of a car crashed by Jailene Diaz Ramos, who is also from Bristol, Connecticut, Hernandez’s home town.

Hernandez’s arraignment will take place May 28th, in Courtroom 906 if the Suffolk County (Mass.) Court House.

Hernandez will not only be arraigned with the double homicide but also on: three counts of armed assault with intent to murder and single counts of assault and battery with dangerous and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Currently, Hernandez is being held, without bail, in the Bristol County Jail awaiting trial on the (additional) first degree murder charges of Odin Llyod that allegedly took place in 2013.

Now facing two trials for murder, only time will tell what the outcome will be for former Pro Bowl tight end Aaron Hernandez.
