Makeup Trends for Spring 2016

Jonissa Leon, Staff Writer

Now that spring is here and we slowly begin to transition into the warm weather, the dark colors of winter makeup trends begin to fade away. It is now the season for bright colors, glitter, bold lipsticks and fake eyelashes. Believe it or not, the top makeup brands as of 2016 are L’Oreal, Olay, Avon, MAC, Clinique, Maybelline, Lancome, Neutrogena, Dove and Estee Lauder. L’Oreal is considered the number one makeup brand because it is said to be the best makeup company in articles, and it’s the largest and most developed to date; its products are sold in all parts of the world. Here are some of the colors and products that will be trending this spring:

Lipsticks:

A purple-tinged pink is what was decided to flourish in this springs new makeup supplies. The top four lipstick brands that carry this color are  Shiseido Perfect Rouge in RS 452, NYC Expert Last Lipstick in Air Kiss, Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquer in Apocalyptic and Yves Saint Laurent Glass Volupté in 206. Matte lipsticks are also very popular; this lipstick leaves your lips with a velvety finish. It’s supposed to be dull, flat and without shine. It’s not the easiest of lipsticks to pull off but when you do the matte colors look flawless.

Eye shadow:

This spring’s most popular  eye shadow colors are blue-green, lavender with undertones of gold and bronze shimmer; the look of the season is geared most toward a metallic color: gold cheeks, gold lips and gold eyes.

Another thing that’s trending the most in cosmetics is contouring and highlighting the face in order to get a slimmer and more defined look to your cheekbones, nose and eyes.  Makeup seems to be an important and very used asset in our society today, and year by year makeup is becoming much more creative. The history of cosmetics has expanded at least over 6000 years and it is known and used in almost every society on earth.
