Last year was a hectic year for the world of innovation. New products and sleeker designs were unveiled that now have changed in ways people in previous wouldn’t have dreamed of. These three products defined last year as a one of the most innovative in regards to technology.

  1. The Apple Watch

As soon as the first commercials and advertisements were shown to the world an instant hype was created. The idea of a watch that was iPhone-compatible made people bonkers.  Not only was it appealing to the average Apple consumer because of what it meant, but the appearance was out of this world.  With a standard display size of 38mm and a pixel resolution of 272 x 340, this little gadget sure packed a punch.  What made it even better was the options this watch had.  There are currently 40 different models for this watch ranging from the Apple Watch Sport at $349 to the ultra-high-end gold Apple Watch Edition with a modern buckle, which runs a pricey $17,000.  The Apple Watch revolutionized the phone industry by creating a device that is more accessible to a user than the handheld device. Whatever the price is, the Apple Watch knocked it out of the park with its design and specs.

  1.  BMW I8

Out of all the great cars that released last year, the BMW I8 was the most innovative, and best looking compared to the rest.  This sports car is a masterpiece to say the least. Starting with the specs this car has a normal 1.5 liter 231-horsepower gas engine, as well as a 131-horsepower electric one in the front axle. That adds up to a reported 360-horsepower engine that eats up a gallon of gas every 92 miles.  If you wanted to ride electric, that’s not a problem for the I8, as it can go for 22 miles at a top speed of 75 miles, on just the battery engine.  At a starting price of $136,500, it won the 2015 World Green Car Award.  BMW has created some astonishing cars throughout its existence, but this one is special.  To summarize it’s the environmentally friendly features, looks and price that makes it one of the best technological products of 2015.

1. Google Glass (Non-Prototype Edition)

This list wouldn’t be complete without having Google Glass at the number one spot.  This product will change the way we literally look at the world.  The ability to capture video, make phone calls and have the ability to use the internet while on the go, is revolutionary in itself.  What makes it even better, is the fact that it is right in front of your eyes.  Let’s get into the specs.  The definition is the equivalent of seeing a 25 inch high definition screen from eight feet away.  The implemented camera has a resolution of 5 MP with a 720 P video camera.  There is 12 GB of usable memory, with another 4 coming from Google cloud storage.   One fully charged Google Glass is enough to be used for one whole day before another charge.  This great device is compatible with any Bluetooth capable phone.  Prices are a bit high for now, ranging from about $700 to about $1,500, but that is all due to it’s limited supply, and lack of models.  Once the prices do fall, which they will, Google Glass will be more common than ever, and people will really see the uses and innovations of it.

 Honorable Mention:Black Ops 3

As a gamer, I have gotten used to the routine Call of Duty video game released once every year.  While this video game series isn’t a real technological release it does deserve to be included in this list. However, for the past two years, Activision the company behind the COD franchise has let down everyone. COD: Ghost and Advanced Warfare have missed the mark set by the prequels by a long shot, but this new release has brought all the anguish to an end.  Black Ops 3 has revived the series and brought it back to what Call of Duty used to be, plain fun.  The Black Ops series of COD has been overall great and has been the high point of Call of Duty, with Black Ops and Black Ops 2 both being exceptionally well developed and advertised.  Black Ops 3 is just as good, with one exception.  Unlike the previous Black Ops, this one brought back the glory of a franchise.  People were actually excited for this one.  Lines were out of the door, and a store selling out wasn’t a surprise. Yes it wasn’t much more different than any other Call of Duty, but it brought in aspects we haven’t seen in other games and resuscitated the dying series Oh, yea did I mention zombies?  If zombies weren’t part of Call of Duty, it wouldn’t be anywhere as to where it is today.  Black Ops 3 returned the zombies mode back into what it should be; endless hoards of the living dead and the never ending rounds that coma with it. Every aspect of Black Ops 3 was good if not great, and that’s why it can be considered the best technological release of 2015.
