For many nerds, geeks, and fans of pop cultures ranging from Anime to Star Trek, New York Comic Con, located at the Javits Center in New York City, has been the great excuse for nearly 10 thousand people looking for a place where they could feel at home with other fans.

New York Comic Con in October 2021, the first Comic Con in New York since the beginning of the pandemic

Beginning in 2006, when things were not as crazy as they are today with technology and media, New York Comic Con easily became a fan favorite gathering event. It is an event for the many people who are obsessed with the geeky and weird, as well those who want to show off their amazing Cosplay skills (Cosplay being the practice of dressing up as a character from a TV show, game, or movie).

However, due to COVID-19, Comic Con had to be put on hold in 2020, leaving many, including myself, wondering if it would happen this year at all. Well, thankfully, after many months of preparation and social distancing, the Con was up and running again. To maintain the safety of everyone’s health, people were required to keep their masks on at all times.

But, these protocols did not put an end to the fun for many people. After a day’s experience at the Con, taking many pictures with and of the amazing people I had met, it seems that just about everyone was as happy as I was by the end of it all.
