Lots of people travel year-round, and in most cases overpack, underpack or forget things on long trips outside of the country. Although overpacking isn’t really much more than a small burden, underpacking is a real problem. If you tend to underpack, there are certain things you should make sure to bring on these trips. Here is a list of five things everyone should bring on a trip (not including money).

Side note: Never decide to only bring five objects on a trip.

  1. Your cell phone – This is one of the most important things to bring because you can see where anything is in the country you’re in, google any question or make calls. Just try not to get sucked into your phone, though – you’re on vacation.  And make sure to add on an international calling option to avoid roaming charges.
  2. Your charger – You have no use for a phone without bringing a charger along. Pretty common knowledge, yet people still forget it all the time.
  3. Headphones – Literally, anytime you’re bored you can pop them in and listen to music. They are especially useful for long drives and flights to wherever you need to go, and can bring an entertainment factor to your trip.
  4. Rain coat/weather appropriate clothing – The clothes you pack should depend on where you are going, as it is important to be able to live with the conditions of that country. Every country experiences some type of precipitation, so bring a rain coat! This is extremely important due to the fact that a coat could be the difference between getting a head cold and getting pneumonia. Hopefully, the situation you are in won’t be that serious, but there is nothing wrong with having protection from the rain or cold.
  5. A Dolphi (when it comes out) – Considering the fact that you’re only going to have the clothes on your back, you need to wash your clothes. A Dolphi is a portable washer created by Lena Solis. This device washes the clothes someone has by just filling a sink or bath with water. This new technology has the potential for success, especially for frequent fliers. Just imagine waking up and having your clothes already washed, not having to waste any time or money at a local foreign laundromat, which is why this little device made the list even though it hasn’t been released yet.
