The Strawberry Hill Players, the drama club at Stamford High, has hosted many great shows through the years. This year they plan to give the SHS students, faculty, and parents even better performances.

When asked about how the 2014-15 year was for the club, Tommy DeSalvo, drama club co-adviser, said, “Last year we had our biggest audiences in 10 years. The drama club members had good ways of advertising our shows.”

SHS junior and drama club treasurer Bryce Drynan also commented, “Legally Blonde had our greatest turnout last year and I believe the freshmen are going to put on great shows.”

When asked about how this year will be, DeSalvo stated, “I think it’s going to be a great year; there will be a strong piece in the fall and another in the spring.”

In March, the drama club will attend the Connecticut Drama Association Festival. The competition will be held at Pomperaug High School, and each competing school will be bringing a 45 minute play. The Strawberry Hill Players’ piece will be directed by SHS alumnus Matthew Blank. Stamford High family and friends can see a free preview of this performance on March 12 at 8 p.m. in the auditorium.

In the spring, the drama club will perform Seussical the Musical. The story is a fun mix of many of Dr. Seuss’s most famous books.  Auditions will be held after school on January 25 and 26. Be sure to catch this upbeat and family-friendly production on April 29 and 30, and May 6 and 7.

Please come see these performances, as DeSalvo stated, “The greatest gift you can give these students is to come see their shows.”
