The week of October 14 is highly anticipated at Stamford High School due to the annual Pink Out. Now in its 12th year running, the Pink Out is a cancer research/care fundraiser at Stamford High, with an average of over $10,000 raised annually through donations and the sale of Pink Out spirit wear. Overall, the community has been able to donate $113,883.20 to the Bennett Cancer Center in Stamford.
To get everyone in Pink Out spirit, the Student Council has a tradition of hosting Spirit Week leading up to the big Pink Out football game. This year, the Spirit Week schedule is as follows:
Monday 10/14: No School
Tuesday 10/15: Onesie/Pajama Day
Wednesday 10/16: Jersey Day
Thursday 10/17: Color Wars (Freshmen: Gray, Sophomores: White, Juniors: Orange, Seniors: Black)
Friday 10/18: Pink Out
Saturday 10/19: Pink Out game
The Pink Out football game this year features Stamford High’s Black Knights up against the Fairfield Ludlowe Falcons. Kickoff is at 1 p.m., and the turnout is expected to be high. The concession stand, run by the Black Knight Student Council, will be open during the game.
According to UKnighted Nations advisor Jeremy White, the support for this year’s Pink Out is down. Spirit wear sales are at a low, despite the new online ordering system launched by U-Knighted Nations. The 2024 Pink Out shirt features a baseball theme, in honor of former Black Knight Kyle Bancroft (Class of 2023), who lost his battle with cancer earlier this year. Please consider purchasing a t-shirt, long sleeve, or hoodie to help raise funds in his name.
