Eleanor (Elly) Fox is a senior at SHS who’s beaten numerous records in our track and field athletic program, one of which includes the fastest mile time in our school’s history. Being both athletically and academically successful, we profiled her on her running experience throughout the past four years.
Q: What sports do you play?
A: I run cross country and track.
Q: Why did you choose that sport?
A: I wasn’t very coordinated in any other sport so I tried running.
Q: How long have you been playing?
A: I ran cross country in middle school, and have been running both track and cross country since freshman year.
Q: What are you going to miss most about your sport?
A: Definitely the team atmosphere, I’ve made some of my best friends through high school running and you really get to bond with people when you do hard things together.
Q: Do you want to continue your sport in college? If so, a division or just a club?
A: Yes, I definitely plan to continue running in college in the NCAA.
Q: Do you only participate in your sport at SHS or outside of school?
A: I only run for SHS.
Q: What’s your favorite experience from your sport?
A: Cross country is definitely my favorite season, and I’ve loved seeing the team improve as the season progresses. It’s cool to see the records being broken by not only me, but so many of my other teammates who beat times that have stood for decades here at SHS. It’s been a really fun four years here, and I’m really going to miss messing around with Coach Kelley and the post-meet team dinners!
