Brett Mayer is a volunteer Firefighter at the Belltown Fire Department. He has been a part of this program for nine months now. Mayer is the youngest in the fire department, he helps out with anything that an officer wants him to do. He responds to emergency calls and learns what to do if there is a fire whether it is in a house or building. Although he has not done anything dangerous because he is not certified yet, he has been able to witness these emergency situations.

Mayer chose this as his career because he is passionate about helping others, and serving his community. Mayer thinks that this career isn’t for everyone, but if you are interested he suggests getting involved with your local Fire Department.

Mayer’s plans for the future are to attend Southern Maine Community College, and get his Associates Degree in Fire Science.
