SHS Coat Drive Keeps Students Warm At No Cost

As first quarter comes to a close and winter approaches, the last thing SHS wants is for students to be worrying about not having access to a winter jacket!

While some students may already have a winter jacket, there are new SHS students and Connecticut residents, who have never had to deal with the harsh winters that usually occur in this part of the country.

On Nov. 1, 2018, SHS held a coat drive in the small auditorium with over 100 new winter coats available for all students in need. It was run by Sara Steckis, one of the school’s social workers. Brand new coats were donated from the school district to all high schools in Stamford for them all to hold a coat drive.

The coats varied in sizes, making them available for students of all shapes and sizes. Steckis told us she was “happy to provide coats for the students who need it.”
