Varsity field hockey player, Rebecca Rakowitz’s bruise

With great athletic power, comes great responsibility, and a lot of ice. These few Stamford High athletes know this all too well. Seniors Bailey Bitetto and Rebecca Rakowitz show off some of the most outrageous bruises I’ve ever seen. Bitetto, a varsity soccer player said she’s “not quite sure” how she got her bruise, “I don’t remember getting kicked during the game, but knowing me I probably tripped over the ball and landed hard on my leg”. Rakowitz, the goalkeeper for the varsity field hockey team blocked a shot on goal during a game.. with her calf. We don’t recommend this at home, but hey, anything to keep the ball out of the back of the goal! Juniors Maddie Caruso, varsity field hockey player, and Ariel Sandoval, varsity soccer player also share similar stories. Caruso was hit with a ball and field hockey stick on her knee, and Sandoval was kicked in the knee while preforming a slide tackle during one of his games.

Senior Bailey Bitetto's mysterious bruise. All she knows is it kind of looks like Italy.
