On October 1st, Stamford High School business classes were granted the opportunity to work side-by-side with volunteers from Pitney Bowes, a software manufacturing company that is based out of Stamford, Connecticut. Our marketing and business classes were able to work with volunteers from Human Resources and the Employee Engagement team to learn techniques for job interviews and college preparation. Students were engaged in interactive activities that were intended to prepare them for future work experiences.

This volunteer effort is a part of Pitney Bowes 2014 Fairfield County volunteer initiative called Dedication to Education. Employees are rounded up from different parts of Southwestern Connecticut ,where they are offered to participate in one of over 30 service projects related to education. These programs are being supported from The Volunteer Center of the United Way of Western Connecticut and with Team Project Grants from Pitney Bowes.

Students and teachers from Stamford High were very appreciative of the opportunity Pitney Bowes offered them. Stamford High School business teacher Howard Levy said, “The Stamford High School Business / Unified Arts Department is fortunate to a have strong relationship with corporate partners that genuinely have an interest to spend time and mentor our students. Pitney Bowes Volunteers have been instrumental in supporting our students for many years. We really appreciate the opportunity to meet these executives and work as a partner with the United Way as well.”
