Over the course of the football season, seniors Billy DeVito, Tyler Serricchio, Jalen Brown, and Andrew Antione have all been getting a lot of attention not only from their peers, but also from many respected colleges. Coming off a record of 2-9 last season, the Black Knights are now 4-2 and are catching the eye of other teams in the FCIAC. Due to the overwhelming amount of attention DeVito, Serricchio, Brown, and Antione have been receiving, The Round Table has decided to give you an exclusive look at these players.

Although Captain Billy DeVito has been getting a tremendous amount of attention on the football field, his true passion is to pursue his love for baseball. He states “I’ve been playing football since the third grade, but I’m not going to continue playing in college since I have a scholarship for baseball at the University of Hartford.” With his eight touchdowns, DeVito is among the top scoring wide receivers in the FCIAC. He, like many others on the team, feels that their success comes from the strong bond within the team. DeVito believes that the coaches are doing a fantastic job of playing to the team’s strengths and putting everybody in the right place. DeVito has been catching the eyes of everybody in the FCIAC, and hopes to continue producing at the rate he has been.

Much like DeVito, senior Captain Tyler Serricchio hopes to play baseball in college. Serricchio has been playing football since he was in fourth grade. Currently he’s playing linebacker for the school, but he used to play quarterback. He says that he isn’t surprised by the success of the team this season because he knew coming into it that they had “the potential to be great.” Serricchio says that “although he expected this much success, he didn’t expect it this early into the season.”

Senior quarterback Jalen Brown is leading the offensive charge this season, and his fantastic play is a large part of the team’s accomplishments. Coach Green has been coaching Brown ever since the fourth grade, when Brown was the quarterback for the Glenbrook Titans. Brown’s relationship with Green could be playing a large role in the overall flow of the team. Due to his success this season, Brown says he’s been receiving many Division I and Division II looks. Brown feels that the positive publicity the team  is receiving is having a negative effect on the team.He says,“Everyone is becoming overwhelmed with the amount of attention that we are currently receiving; all we can do is to stick together as a team and stay humble.” Brown added that over the course of the season they have drastically improved since last year’s season, which is a good turning point for the Stamford High School football team.

Wide receiver Andrew Antione is among the top receivers in the state. With 11 touchdowns, he’s on pace to catch the school’s record of 21 thouchdowns. When asked about breaking the record he states “I am very confident I can achieve this challenge.”  Antione has a phenomenal relationship with Brown and the two often go to the field together and work on running routes. Antione has recently suffered a minor setback. While being tackled, after making a reception, he hurt his knee. He has been sidelined for a few games now, but he said he is going to be ready to get back on the field just in time for the game against Trinity Catholic High School.

These four players have contributed a lot to the success of the team this season. The Black Knights are proud to have these four players be a part of the school, and it looks like all four players have a bright athletic future in college.
