Snapchat Has its Biggest Update Yet
September 22, 2015
On Tuesday, Snapchat released new selfie filters, purchases you can make inside the app, a trophy case feature and more.
With so many new features added into this famous app, it can be hard to know where to start, or what is there to see. Here we’ve pointed out the most talked about ones in the update and the best way to use them.
Among the most popular changes are the “lenses” Snapchat now uses, which give you a variety of effects. To use them, you use the front-facing camera to show your face, then press and hold on your face to make the features pop up. From there you can slide through the bottom row to choose which effect you want to use, then follow the directions. Not only can you use them to take pictures, but you can record while using the effects as well!
The new “lenses,” also known as features, will also switch up. According to Snapchat, you won’t see the same filters all the time, which is good because who would want to see the same filters everyday? So far, effects include rainbow tongue, animated heart eyes, scary face (just in time for Halloween), and so many more.
Remember when we didn’t know what the random emojis next to your friend’s name were for? Now with the new update Snapchat explains these “friend emojis” They explain and describe the relationship you have with people you exchange snaps and messages with the most. Now you can tell the difference between the yellow heart (besties) and the baby face (which appears next to someone who is a new friend).
Snapchat has introduced an extra replay option via an in-app purchase. You still get your one replay everyday day, but now you can get three extra replays for $0.99, 10 for $2.99, and 20 for $4.99. Your replays are still used only one time even though you pay for them. They are evenly distributed between separate messages.
A trophy case system is another cool feature that was added in Tuesday’s update. Each “trophy” is represented by an emoji that means you achieved something, such as sending a video snap or sending a snap with a filter applied. These new features will not only keep the millions of people using Snapchat now but also attract newcomers!
