Cross “road trip” off of your bucket list this summer!

As you know, summer is coming up. That means it’s the perfect time to do all the things you couldn’t do in the winter! Only problem? As summer approaches, college does too. Separation between friends is common; you are beginning a new chapter in your life, but it is a difficult thing nonetheless. Luckily, summer is your perfect chance to do as many fun things as possible with your friends before you go your separate ways (or just fun activities to do even if you’re not separating).  Here is a list of activities to do before college begins:

  1. Go on a road trip: This may seem like the most common of bucket list choices, but not a lot of people actually go for the idea. Try saving up as much money as you can, grab a car with a couple of friends and hit the road anywhere you want. Try choosing places that none of you have ever been to before so that the experience can be new for everyone.
  2. Go to a concert: There are many concerts and festivals in the summer that you and your friends can go to. In New York City alone there is Governor’s Ball, Central Park Summer Stage, Celebrate Brooklyn, and more. If you feel like staying close to home, you can never go wrong with Alive@5. Just remember that for some of these converts and festivals you have to be 18 or older, so watch out on the age limit.
  3. Go to Slide the City: Stamford is having something new this summer. For one day only, on July 26, Slide the City will bring a 1000 foot long slip-n-slide that will go through downtown Stamford. Prices range from 15-50 dollars depending on how many times you want to go on.
  4. Do a color run:  A Color Run is a fun 5K run to do with your friends. While you run, volunteers throw non-toxic powdered paint everywhere, including on your clothes and in your face. Events can be found at their website with a list of their dates and prices.
  5. Go camping: Choose one of the many destinations for camping, load a car full of the necessities, and go down with a group of friends for a weekend.
  6. Go to your favorite theme park/water park: There are many theme/water parks near Stamford, so why not look some up and go to as many as you can? There are the usual parks like Six Flags Great Adventure and Lake Compounce, but try looking up parks that you have never gone to.
  7. Visit your favorite places in Stamford: For those who are leaving Stamford to go to college somewhere new, it’s always nice to have memories of your favorite places, even if it’s just the movie theater. Visit your favorite restaurant a few more times so the happy memories don’t fade away.
  8. Watch a movie outside: Grab blankets, pillows, and the snacks of your choice and use your laptop as the perfect movie screen while having the starry night above you.
  9. Have a movie marathon: Choose your friends and your favorite movies and watch them all day with your favorite snacks right by your side.
  10. Take as many pictures as possible: This is a pretty obvious one, but you always have to take pictures so you can remember all the fun you had with your friends. Now that you’re starting new again, it’s nice to look at the fun memories and cherish those great moments.
