Black Knights “Take Back the Knight”
March 6, 2015
It’s clearly fashion season here at SHS, as the junior and senior class work hard to prepare for their annual upcoming fashion show which will be held on Thursday March 12th, 2015 in the auditorium. The theme this year is “Take Back the Knight”. Both classes have been rehearsing on Tuesday and Thursday nights since mid-February to make sure it tops last year’s “Knight and Day.”
All juniors will be modeling pieces from Lord and Taylor’s 2015 spring collections. Girls from this grade got to choose from many different styles and designers for clothing and accessories including handbags and jewelry. As for the senior class, girls will be strutting the runway in prom dresses from A Step Ahead and boys in tuxes from Zemo’s.
Every year the show is held as a fundraiser for both classes. All of the proceeds from the night will go towards their after proms senior year that are held at Davenport Elementary School.
The show is run by the FOSH Parents and unified arts teacher Daria Van Nostrand. “The fashion show is a fun way in which the kids get to express themselves and their personalities through modeling. Every year they seem to love it and this year we have a very entertaining group of students,” said Lisa LoRusso, one of the moms running this event.
“It’s really exciting opening the fashion show; I hope I’m not going to trip, but even if I did I would still stay fierce,” said junior Caroline Ryan who will be first to strut the runway with partner Kevin Fuller.
In addition to the show, the parents also put together an exciting raffle for those who attend to participate in. Many different prizes can be won, such as free parking passes for graduation at Boyle Stadium in June or a prom basket that consists of two prom tickets and gift certificates to hair and makeup boutiques.
The junior and senior classes are looking forward to putting on a fabulous show and are hoping to see everyone there.
Editor’s note: Author Gianna Garufi is one of the participants in the fashion show.
