The Name Game

Courtney Fahan, Staff Writer

It is that time of year again: the time when you start noticing students changing their name on Facebook. This is a yearly tradition for many seniors around the country. Students choose creative names that tie in with their real name or relate to them in some way. It was started as a way to impede a college’s ability to find students who had applied. Even though no one really uses Facebook anymore, college admission offices tend to look up students on social media to see what kind of person they are outside of the academic world. So while some students may change their names to keep admissions officers at bay, it is more about upholding the tradition now. Here are examples of Stamford High students have changed their Facebook names:

Kerry Fahan: Kerry OddParents

Kelly DiPietro: Kelly DipN’Dots

Sam Berkrot: Sam Bearcat

Anne Eilertsen: Ana Margarita

Taylor Riddle: Tayla Gang

Chiara Parisi: Key Are Uh

Keisy Lumley: Kc Lumley

Haley LaMotta: Hay Lee

Biranna Arias: LeBronna James

Olivia Martinez: Olive Martini

Bailey Bitetto: Bae Lee

These are just a few of the many names students decided to use this year. Juniors, start thinking now about possible senior names, because next year is going to be here before you know it!
