Watkins in Trouble Again
January 12, 2015
Former Stamford High teacher Danielle Watkins, who caused controversy throughout Stamford public school system for having sex with one of her students and giving marijuana to another, was arrested Friday afternoon after allegedly threatening one of the victims. Allegedly the victim was at a local coffee shop waiting for his food when Watkins appeared suddenly and supposedly threatened the victim according to a press release issued by Stamford police Friday evening. The victim became so frightened that he left and told his mother what had happened. They then reported the incident to the police.
According to the victims’ lawyer, Devin Janosov, Watkins threatened to kill the young men on Friday morning. Janosov said that his younger client, who is a friend of the student that Watkins had the sexual relationship with, was at Dunkin’ Donuts on Hoyt Street in Stamford at about 11 a.m. Friday waiting in line. The next thing he knew, Watkins walked up behind him and threatened to kill him and his friend. She said “You and your buddy have taken everything from me. My kids, my family, my job and my career. Mark my words, I will not rest until you two are dead,” Janosov said, recounting what his client told him earlier in the day. Watkins also called the victim when he was at the police station and threatened him once again Janosov said.
Investigators were able to corroborate the story with footage taken from the coffee shop. With this footage, Police were able to get an arrest warrant, and went to her home in Norwalk to take her into custody. “She was teaching kids and now she is out threatening them, saying she won’t rest until they are dead? That’s sick,” Janosov said. The arrest could very well throw Danielle Watkins’ plea agreement that would keep her in jail for as little as nine months into jeopardy. Her bond was also raised to $146,000, which Watkins has been unable to post as of Monday January 12.
