NEASC Visiting Team to Arrive Monday
October 16, 2014
The New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) will be visiting Stamford High from Monday October 22, 2014 until Wednesday October 24, 2014.
On Monday there will be two groups of visitors who will be shadowing students, one group taking place during Periods 3, 4, and 5, and the second taking place during Periods 4, 5, and 6. On Tuesday, visitors will be stopping by different classes throughout the day and on Wednesday any classes that are not visited will be observed.
During the three-day-period, students will be seeing a team of educators including teachers, department heads, administrators, and superintendents from schools across Connecticut who are overseeing the activities occurring in Stamford High. Accreditation for Stamford High is at stake, along with being recognized by colleges and universities to run as a school on its own.
When asked what her expectations for the visit were, English department head Beth Gillin said she is confident that “we’re very prepared”. Gillin was one of the two coordinators of the NEASC visit. She explained that we have been preparing for the visit for the past 10 years, with the most intensive work taking place in the past two years.
Gillin also stated that students are not being evaluated individually. The visit is for the school as a whole and is part of bettering Stamford High for the future. So students, if you see any strange adults wandering the school next week, don’t be concerned.
