These days, there are many earphones to choose from. There are many different variations in price, practicality, quality and more. So I broke down my personal favorites, which vary in price and quality.
The best earphones in my opinion in the $100 range are the Klipsch S4I/S4A (II) and Bose MIE2i /MIE2 Audio headsets. They both have great sound, and are worth the money if you want to listen to music with the best quality. They both have three-button remotes that control the volume and skip track control, and a microphone for calls. However, they have their differences.
The Klipsch S4I (II) earphones are made for Apple products like iPhone, iPad, iPod; the S4A (II) is for Android devices. These provide noise isolation so the outside noise doesn’t disturb the sound of the earphones. These phones don’t leak any noise to the outside at all. They also include a flat tangle-free wire.
Remember, the Bose MIE2i earphones are for Apple products and the MIE2 are made for all other phones, like Android, Windows, and Blackberry. These are also more expensive, coming in at $129.95. They do not have the tangle free wires. The quality of the sound is a little better, and they are more comfortable for long use than the Klipsch. However, they are not noise canceling, and a little sound leaks to the outside.
If $100 is too expensive for you, don’t worry – there are other options than these Apple earphones. The Apple earphones are good, but I don’t think they are very comfortable. A couple of my other top picks are the Sol Republic Jax and the Sony DR-EX12IP. Both are great choices, but they have some differences.
The Sony DR-EX12IP earphones are $29.99, and they are the cheaper of the two. They include the same three-button controls and microphone as the Bose and Klipsch, but the pause and voice control only works for Apple products. The comfortable earphones provide a good sound, and last long if you treat them with care.
The Sol Republic Jax earphones are $39.99. Again, they have the same control and microphone, and only work for Apple products. The sound quality is a little bit better, but it isn’t a huge difference. They do have the flat tangle free cord. The three-button option comes in two colors, a black and white earphone and white cord, and blue and dark blue combination. The one-button option comes in 12 different colors, which offers something for everyone.
These are all great choices, and you can’t go wrong with any of these earphones. There are a lot more choices than Dr. Dre Beats and the standard Apple earphones. These are a few of my favorites, but explore the many other brands out there and decide for yourself.
