Not many people realize that the city of Stamford is filled with eerie and spooky places, perfect to visit for the Halloween season. We’ve compiled a list of the scariest places in Stamford – hope you enjoy.
In first place for scariest location in Stamford, Twin Lakes takes the cake. This mysterious and deserted summer camp was reported to have gone bankrupt many years ago, but many people still believe myths that a camp counselor was murdered, or that there is a ghost that haunts the property. No one seems to know why the camp was shut down, but many of the fixtures and buildings belonging to he camp are still standing. If you go to visit this frightening site, beware that it is closed to the public and that the Round Table does not condone trespassing. Keep your distance.
A close second to Twin Lakes, the “Moonies” property is very well known among Stamford residents. Located near the border of Connecticut and New York, the private property is supposedly home to a branch of one of the largest cults said to be led by the Unification Church. This church holds the world record for the largest mass marriage in the Guinness Book of World Records. A note to all possible visitors: this site is also closed to the public, as it is a private residence. But it’s still scary to drive past it!
Amongst these places lays the hidden Gorge. Also located in North Stamford, the Gorge is a large body of fresh water surrounded by scenic natural landscapes. It is secluded from the main roads but once again is closed to the public.
