Spectre is Good, but Not Great

Daniel Craig. Daniel Craig. Daniel Craig. The man’s a great actor; you can’t hate him. Chances are I will most likely enjoy any movie he is in just because he is such a phenomenal actor. But enough of me being a fanboy, let’s get down to the movie.
First off, the very first scene of Spectre had to be my favorite. There were no cuts. It was one long, single-taped scene and it was impressive. The scene was probably eight to 10 minutes long and to film that all in one shot was very impressive.
After that scene, the film turned into another badass 007 movie. In my mind, it is hard to beat Skyfall. In my eyes that will always be the best Bond movie of my lifetime. Spectre got cheesy at times and that infuriated me. In Bond movies, there will always be a girl involved. That’s just how Bond rolls, but he has never chosen the girl over his secret agent lifestyle. Will he change his ways in Spectre? That choice was left to director Sam Mendes.
There was a scene in the movie where they strapped Bond’s girl to a bomb, which I sarcastically deemed really original. They could have gone so many different ways with that but they just strapped her to a bomb like a classic western film. Come on now, it’s the 21st century. Do something new and different.
I will tell you something I liked. I enjoyed the way that Overhauser, played by Christoph Waltz, toyed with Bond. The mind games that he initiated to mess with Bond’s head were perfect. He toyed with Bond left and right, but Bond eventually overcame these obstacles. At first though, they hit him. They hit him hard, right in the chest.
Spectre overall was not at all a bad film. It just was not my favorite 007 movie, but nevertheless, it was still a Bond movie and EVERY Bond movie is worth the money to go and watch.
I hope you enjoy your film watching experience.
