Lady Gaga Closes Roseland Ballroom

On the night of her 28th birthday, singer/songwriter Lady Gaga took the stage at Roseland Ballroom in New York City to start a series of 7 sold out shows that will lead to the closing of Roseland Ballroom early April.

From March 28th through April 7th, Lady Gaga is scheduled to perform many of her big hits such as “Just Dance” and her latest song “G.U.Y.” while grabbing the audience with her outrageous outfits, incredible piano playing and choreography.

The opening act for her show, none other than her closest friend and fellow artist Lady Starlight, pumped up the audience for an hour with her DJ performance. Lady Gaga opened the show with an acoustic version of her #1 hit ‘Born This Way” from her 2nd album of the same name, and closed the show with a bombastic performance of her latest #1 hit “G.U.Y” (Girl Under You) from her latest album “ARTPOP”. As thousands of her loving fans waited outside in line as early as 6 A.M, the line built up around the block.

In 1922, Roseland Ballroom opened its doors for people to enjoy every kind of event. When hot jazz came into the music scene, Roseland Ballroom was host to jazz singers like Louis Armstrong and a young Ella Fitzgerald. As years went on, and its success skyrocketed, the venue got so popular it was forced to move a block away, for bigger and better capacity. Roseland would later have more legendary singers perform there, like Frank Sinatra, and transitioning to artists of the younger generation, such as Beyoncè and Ke$ha. It has also hosted a huge range of events from movie premieres, annual gay circuit parties, fashion shows, and musical performances of all genres.

On April 7, 2014, Lady Gaga and New York City will be saying goodbye to the legendary Roseland Ballroom, marking the end of an era.
