1. This is Halloween from The Nightmare Before Christmas
I think it’s safe to say this song is a bit self explanatory. How can you not listen to “This is Halloween” during this spooky time of year? A classic from Nightmare Before Christmas that just has to be sung the second you realize it’s Halloween (or, if you’re like me, you start singing it the second it’s October).
2. Thriller by Michael Jackson
A classic song that you have to listen to during this season: “Thriller”. It’s a song that is quite literally added to every single Halloween playlist that has ever been made because of its spooky sound, creepy lyrics, and scary music video.
3. Monster Mash by Bobby Pickett & the Crypt Kickers
A song we’ve all been listening to since the first Halloween we can remember, “Monster Mash” is definitely a classic that you can not run away from. If this isn’t on your Halloween playlist than I must gently say, you’re doing it wrong.
4. I Put a Spell on You (The Sanderson Sisters’ Version from Hocus Pocus)
Our favorite evil witches sang this song in Hocus Pocus, the movie about three witches who rose from the dead to steal as many children as possible before Halloween is over. We’ve all stayed up watching the beloved childhood movie, and when that scene came on you were definitely singing along. The Sanderson Sisters quite literally cast a spell on everyone at the dance. If you’re not listening to this on Halloween, well… I can’t think of a reason why you wouldn’t be.
5. In the Absence of Christmas by Charlie McDonnell
“In the Absence of Christmas” is definitely not a mainstream song. It was written and performed an unsigned artist, Charlie McDonnell, who is also a popular Youtuber who goes by charlieissocoollike. The song revolves around the question, “What does Santa Claus do for Halloween?” It’s an obscure song with funny lyrics and a catchy melody. It’s worth listening to during the Halloween season.
