Halloween is a holiday filled with spookiness and fear, for those of you who desire more than trick-or-treating, here are my top five horror filled games that will get your adrenaline pumped and keep you entertained for hours.

5. Plants vs. Zombies

Playable on almost every platform, from mobile devices to PC and consoles, Plants vs. Zombies makes up the number five spot on my list as it brings endless hours of engaging fun as you fend off your home from relentless hordes of zombies with plants that come to life and act as your own living arsenal.

4. Killing Floor
The classic humans vs. zombies game, Killing Floor presents endless hours of fun as you try to survive through waves of zombies with a group of friends. This game is a first-person-shooter in which you must work together with your teammates to fend off hordes of monsters of all shapes and sizes. You choose from various types of weapons ranging from shotguns to knives and axes which are purchased with the money you receive from killing the monsters littered around the map.

3. Slender: The Eight Pages
This short horror filled game will keep you awake for nights after experiencing only a glimpse of it. Players start off with only a flashlight in the dark world set before them. They have to find eight pages scattered around the forest before the looming Slender Man catches you. The adrenaline rush that you get when turning around to check for Slender and seeing him creep in closer and closer keeps you wide awake, ready to jump at any abnormality.

2. Silent Hill 2
This old school game from 2001 strikes fear and sorrow into many people’s hearts. You play as a character named James, who is searching for his wife even though she died from a disease three years ago. This game tells the heartbreaking story of a poor soul who is still grasping onto the idea that his wife may still be alive. The amazing soundtrack will give you the creeps; I highly recommend using a pair of headphones when playing this game to experience true immersion.

1. Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs
Set in London in 1899 on New Year’s Eve, you play as Oswald Mandus, a wealthy explorer and industrialist who wakes up to hearing his children calling out to him. You hear voices of his two sons, Enoch and Edwin, who lead him throughout the course of the game. Using only a lantern you explore the house which is physically interactive, which submerges you into world that becomes one with you as you alter the environment and learn about Mandus’s past through diary entries and notes left behind.
