On December 19th, SHS “Iced Out” took place in the small auditorium (room 101) at 8:30 a.m. The program was sponsored by the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE). Students in Entrepreneurship classes purchased the items being sold in the wholesale district of New York earlier this year.

Everybody seemed to be happy with the items that were being sold. The price of the items ranged from $1 to $4. iPhone cases were $4 and eyeliners were $2. When asked what Iced Out was all about, the teachers in charge, Dorothea Mackey and Amy Ferrare, said, ” It’s about teaching the kids to purchase wholesale for a particular target market and sell retail to that target market.”

Senior Cynthia Montero, one of the students selling the items, was pretty satisfied with the way Everything was going. “It’s pretty good, we get a lot of people,  then it gets slow,” she said.  When asked which item has been selling the most, she said, “probably the tattoos, surprisingly.”

Another seller, junior Julia Aragon, said that things weren’t going as planned.  “Yeah, I mean, my roses aren’t selling,” Aragon said.

Sophomore Kacey Bargas who bought hats,a rose bracelet and a piercing, said the prices of the items were very pleasing.

Ms. Ferrare said, ” For students who find this activity interesting or have the desire to someday go into business for themselves, talk to your guidance counselor about enrolling in Entrepreneurship next year.” For more information, visit her in room 263.
