Ten Things You Can Do With Your Summer

  1. Visit Colleges!

Next school year, juniors will be applying to colleges. Why not check them out before applying? It’s a great experience to get a feel for the campus this summer. Now, visiting colleges isn’t limited to just juniors. Freshmen and sophomores, it’s never too early to take a trip to the college of your dreams.

  1. Go to a sporting event.

Basketball, baseball, golf, tennis. Go watch a game! Go see your favorite team, enjoy overpriced food and souvenirs. Sporting events are exciting and entertaining. You could never go wrong with doing the wave at a baseball game or ordering unnecessarily long slices of pizza at a basketball game!

  1. Volunteer.

Why not be productive this summer? Volunteer at your local hospital, library, soup kitchen, you name it. Volunteering is a great learning experience and you’ll feel great doing it! There’s always space for your assistance somewhere.

  1. Go to a music festival or a concert!

Let loose! Have some fun this summer. Though festivals and concerts may be pricey, they are  worth it. Treat yourself to seeing your favorite artists perform and meet other interesting people at a music festival and sing along to your favorite songs.

  1. Go camping.

Sleep in a tent. Catch your dinner. Take a break from the city and have an adventure amongst Mother Nature’s creation! Go on a nighttime hike with your family and friends. Don’t forget the flashlights!

  1. Work.

Get a part-time job at a restaurant, ice cream shop, clothing store. By working this summer, you not only gain working experience, but, you’ll be able to afford those festival or concert tickets with your earned money. You’d be giving yourself responsibility and you’d set up a stable working schedule.

  1. Go sightseeing.

Take a tour in Washington D.C. Take the ferry in New York City. Check out all the popular monuments and be a tourist for a day or so. Or, if you can, go outside of the U.S. and see other parts of the world. Travelling is always good for the summer!

  1. Go swimming

May it be at your local pool club, your friend’s pool or the beach, go take a dip! Cool off in the water with your friends and family. Have a picnic on the beach or a pool party. Have a water balloon fight or water gun war. Go paddle boarding or kayaking. Go to a waterpark! Enjoy the summer sun and don’t forget your sunscreen!

  1. Try something new!

Try a local food truck you haven’t tried. Go on a road trip to a place you’ve never been before. Be daring this summer and most importantly, have fun!
