After an 108 year wait, Cubs fans are officially able to celebrate their team being World Series winners after their game against the Cleveland Indians on Nov. 2, 2016. The Cubs made a spectacular comeback after being down 3-1 in the series. So for all you Cubs fans, here are the top five moments from the Chicago Cubs’ World Series win:1908_chicago_cubs

  1. Kyle Schwarber’s Return– Schwarber suffered from what people thought was a season ending knee injury during the Cubs’ third regular season game. Luckily Schwarber was able to return to play for Game 1 of the World Series in Cleveland. Although the Cubs may have lost Game 1, Schwarber was able to help spark a win in Game two with two hits, a walk and two RBIs.
  2. Ex-Yankee Pitcher Aroldis Chapman makes his presence known in Game 5: Chapman didn’t allow any runs and a hit during his two-plus innings of work. During those two innings, Chapman threw 42 pitches and 26 strikes, managing to strike out four. The Cubs traded many young prospects to get Chapman from the Yankees and it’s easy to say it definitely paid off.
  3. Kris Bryant brings the Cubs back during Game 5: The Cubs were down 3-1 in the Series and losing 1-0 in game five when Bryant came on in the fourth inning to hkris_bryant_on_april_27_2015-1it a leadoff home run to tie the game. The Cubs then went on to score two more runs.
  4. David Ross’ sixth-initing home run during Game 7: During the final game of his MLB career, Ross came out to become the oldest player in Major League history to hit a homerun in Game 7 of a World Series at age 39. At the end of the game the Cubs players carried Ross off the field as a World Series Champ.
  5. Ben Zobrists RBI double in Game 7: Zobrist’s RBI in the 10th inning was what was able to finally push the Cubs over the top in the game that seemed to be destined to be a disaster. I couldn’t have been a more challenging task but the Cubs came out on top.

Congratulations are in order for Theo Epstein, the general manger of the Cubs after he was able to end two World Series droughts (leading the Cubs to their victory after 108 years and ending the Red Sox 86 year wait back in 2004). After the game, Cubs fans were beyond thrilled that their beloved team had won; cheerful high spirited celebration spread around quickly. With the strong team the Cubs currently have there are very high hopes for the upcoming years of this Champion team.
