The quest for the best burger in Stamford is back at it again with round two! This month’s burger place is a hotspot for date nights, dinners with friends and even families: Plan B Burger. This chain has been a popular destination for Stamfordites ever since it opened a few years back.

During my recent visit, in which I was once again accompanied by Mileena Donawa, we were seated as soon as we walked into the restaurant after being greeted by two ladies at the front. After a few minutes, our waitress quickly walked over to our table and took our drink orders.I ordered my favorite appetizer, the Buffalo tots with my beverage, which consists of tater tots and pieces of chicken tossed in buffalo sauce with blue cheese and sauce. The drinks and appetizers were fantastic.

However, I did experience an issue when ordering the actual burger. I asked for the Breakfast Burger, which is a burger with a fried egg, bacon, maple syrup aioli and cheddar cheese. In all honesty I had high expectations for this burger, but in the end I was let down. At first glance, it looked and smelled beautiful. In fact, when I pushed down the top, the yolk burst open and drizzled down, making my mouth water.

But after taking my first bite, my face almost immediately turned up in disgust. The bun was a croissant, but the opposite of what I expect of a croissant; it was dry and even a little rough. Also, the maple syrup aioli tasted weird, not sweet at all like I had expected. To boot, the egg didn’t have any seasoning on it so I added my own salt and pepper.

The best part of the meal was the appetizer and the fries that came with it. I couldn’t bring myself to finish the burger; although I tried a few more bites before pushing my plate away. The decor and atmosphere were nice compared to the meal I had.

Plan B Burger’s interior design could be described as rustic meets modern. Walls have parts that are cut out and filled with bricks and are lined with giant mirrors and televisions. The pricing wasn’t terrible, about mid-tier, and it’s accurate for the food you get.

Don’t get me wrong, this experience wasn’t the best, but in all honesty when I usually go there the burgers are great and full of flavor. I really enjoy their food, it just happened to be this one time where the burger actually tasted like dirt or vomit..but that’s just me.
