Fashion Trends for Spring 2016

Juni Pun, Staff Writer

As spring weather slowly approaches us, it is that time of the year where the cool, hip and modern outfits come out! I personally love this time of the year because this is where I can express my style the most. It’s time for spring cleaning;  time to bring out all those short sleeves you usually wear on a warm, breezy day, or what about those shorts that have been collecting dust all winter? But, with all that being said I know there are a majority of you, both guys and girls, who don’t know what’s “in” for this spring of 2016. Well guess what, your genie is here to grant you your wish! By the time you get through reading this article you’ll be ready and in shape to rock this season’s fashion trends.

Let me start off with what colors to choose. Spring is about bright, vibrant colors that stand out. If you’re considering changing your wardrobe for this season, I suggest going with a flattering color that’s not too bright, but not too dark; try choosing a neutral color that says “out with the old, in with the new.” Take white, for example; it isn’t too distinctive but it gives off a spring-feeling vibe. Baby blue, pink or even green can help you with that look! Now take a look at this color grid that shows you a variety of spring colors to help you create your spring look.

I know that coming up with an outfit can be tough, but ladies here are some basic spring styles that anyone can pull off. First we have the typical light t-shirt (graphic or not) with some boyfriend jeans and maybe some Oxfords or Converse to complete the outfit. I personally like my boho/hippie type of look where I can throw on some bellbottoms, a crop top, and my John Lennon shades. But, if that’s not your style, that’s okay – you can go for the sporty look with Capri Dri-fit leggings and a matching shirt. Finish off the look by throwing on some running shoes. If you’re more of a dress-up type of gal than try wearing flowy clothes, such as a maxi dress. You can style your hair in different ways to suit the look. As for shoes, try adding some gladiators; to switch things up a little, you can even add different accessories such as belts, jackets, hats or even try wearing the dress in a certain position that works with your body. If you’re still curious on what to wear here are a few examples:

Now fellas, I didn’t forget about you guys. There is plenty that you can wear entering spring. Let’s take a preppy yet subtle look that can make the ladies fall head over heels. You can start with some cargo shorts, a t-shirt (H&M possibly), some loafers or Sperry’s and a slick hairdo that can do you fellas justice. If that’s not your style then maybe a retro uptown funk look –like my man Bruno pulled off– can be something you want to try out. Think of a look where you feel comfortable and stylish at the same time! You can create your own look by just searching through your closet and getting a pair of pants you don’t wear. For example, look for some sweatpants, jeans or colored pants, cut them to give them more of a modern look and sport them with a simple tee. Lastly, you can pull off one of my favorite looks for this year: the “Damn Daniel.” You guys can all get the attention Daniel did by wearing some “WHITE VANNS!”(and don’t forget the clothes, lol); but seriously, the denim jeans with a simple tee can do you just right. Keep it “stasi man!”

Well, everyone. I hope this was as useful as I intended it to be. I hope all things work out with your spring fashion look, and maybe you can came up with some ideas yourself, so next time I see you in the hallways you’ll be in style!
