Top Three Creepy Places You Need To Check Out

Duncan Lee, Staff Writer

Looking for a good scare or an uneasy feeling this Halloween? Here are three spooky attractions in Fairfield County to visit this upcoming weekend:

Fright Haven

Fright Haven

Located in Stratford, Connecticut, Fright Haven is Connecticut’s largest and scariest indoor haunted attraction. It features 20,000 square feet of hidden actors, dark tunnels and impressive decorations. If you’re afraid of contact, don’t worry because the actors will not touch you, and no matter how much they scare you, you are advised to not put your hands on them as well.

Fright Haven is appropriate for all ages and guests can walk out at any time if they feel the need. General Admission to the attraction costs $20 if bought in advance online and $25 if bought at the door. VIP tickets, which allow you to skip the line, cost $35 in advance online and $40 at the door.

Fright Haven

If that doesn’t sound scary to you, Fright Haven also offers “Blind Rage,” a full contact experience in the dark. You must be at least 18 years old to participate and will be touched by the actors. It is very intense and a safety word is assigned if a guest feels too uncomfortable. This event is on Friday, Nov. 4, and Saturday, Nov. 5, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets must be bought online and cost $30 for Friday and $25 for Saturday.

Union Cemetery

Although Union Cemetery is not a guided attraction, it is still a very scary place to visit. Located in Easton, Connecticut, Union Cemetery has been named one of the most haunted cemeteries in the U.S. It was used as a burial ground in the late 1600’s and is a popular spot for paranormal investigators. There have been numerous cases of people seeing a lady walking amongst the graves in all white. There have also been reports of children getting sick after being in the cemetery.

Perhaps the most known haunt of Union Cemetery is a spirit known as the White Lady. Nobody is positive about who this spirit is. Many believe that the woman was murdered in the 1940’s after she killed her husband while others believe that she is a woman who died during childbirth and is in a never ending search for her child. Locals have reported seeing a woman wearing a white gown walking in the middle of the road. Some have even “hit” the woman, though she is nowhere to be found after being hit. It is said that the White Lady of Union Cemetery also haunts Stepney Cemetery in Monroe, Connecticut.

Demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren have written a book entitled “Graveyard,” which features Union Cemetery. The cemetery is strictly off limits after sunset and the Easton Police keep constant patrol in the surrounding area. In fact, during my visit

there, I had just turned my car off in a dark area as an Easton police car drove by moments later. People that have ventured through the cemetery at night have reported hearing voices and footsteps. Union Cemetery is definitely a very scary place at night, but if you are to visit, visit the grounds legally during the day.
